Oil begets Oil? Au contraire

Dry skin types, just ask anyone with problematic oily skin… the grass isn’t always greener. And with a skincare market touting ‘shine-free’ and ‘matte finish’ everything, oily skin types may find themselves in a world of skincare confusion.

Chronic oily skin can lead to blackheads, acne and resulting blemishes with scarring, but many products only cut down the grease temporarily. If you’re looking for a holistic and long-term solution it begins with re-calibrating the sebaceous glands naturally. Washes, exfoliators, masks and peels that strip away the oil can trigger a deeper problem—the surge in more oil production by the glands. The skin must overcompensate for what is lost. After you’ve rinsed away the oil, what’s left behind? Dry skin! A vicious cycle which leads to perpetual problem areas.

Luckily the struggle to find balance is just a couple of drops away. To regulate the skin’s own oil production, try using organic facial oils. Plant based seed oils such as marula, camellia, rosehips and blackcurrant seed are nature’s multi-taskers and go to work regulating oil production, rejuvenating the skin, and clearing the complexion. When our skin absorbs natural oils, it identifies that there is no need to produce more. The body and nature working together; brilliantly beautiful, isn’t it?
